Promoting physically active lifestyles to our children is more important than ever. Jump Rope For Heart helps students become involved in community service while they are learning how their bodies work and how to care for them. Learning how to jump rope is a great way to keep students moving and helping others at the same time. Jump Rope for Heart is a special event program that raises funds for the American Heart Association’s fight against heart disease and stroke. St. Andrew’s students have learned jump rope skills while learning about heart health and how nutrition and physical activity can help them live longer, healthier lives. Donation envelopes have been sent home with instructions on how to make your own webpage. Students have been instructed to seek permission from their parents before creating a webpage, sending emails or asking anyone for money. Monday, February 6 through Friday, February 10th. Hampton University will be here the entire week to challenge our students.
Donation envelopes are due February 10th. Ideally, I would like for every student at St. Andrew’s to receive the 2012 Jump Rope For Heart t-shirt, by making the monetary goal of $5200 this will be possible. In addition, U.S. Games is a sponsor of Jump Rope For Heart and based on the total amount of money our school raises, we can earn a gift certificate to purchase new physical education equipment for our school. However, as always, my main focus continues to be on student participation and community service.
